Adventures In Powell's Parking Garage

I woke up feeling like I had chronic back pain this morning. Getting out of bed was a struggle, because my back hurt & because there were so many damn people in our bed! Scott, Willow, Judah & I were all laying less than an inch apart in our bed. Scott was balancing on the edge of the bed. He's pretty much mastered the art of sleeping like this without falling off of the bed. Willow fell off of her bed last night. She's been sleeping in a toddler bed for about a week - this was her first tumble. I went in to see why she was screaming & she tells me, "I fall off." hahaa. There's a padded mat there & the drop is less than a foot, she was fine.

Tonight I was going to put Willow to bed so I told her, "It's time to go night night!" She looked at me very seriously & said, "Why are you going to bed?" haha.

Mom, Boone, Sebastian & I spent the day in Portland. Sebastian was amazingly well behaved. It was like he was just suddenly back to being Sebastian! Although, just minutes after we arrived home he was already having a situation - refusing to give up his chocolate milk that he wasn't supposed to be drinking. Later he opened his new Frisbee. It was well beyond bedtime & Scott had just told him that we would wait until tomorrow to open it. Once Sebastian got it out of the package, he threw it at Daddy's head! Apparently he has a good aim! I heard Scott yell as if a cabinet had just landed on his foot. He was totally fine. He said it hurt, but I'm sure the huge yell was mostly because it really took him by surprise. Thank goodness we got home around bedtime. This didn't leave Bash adequate time to fall  far into disruptive behavior. He only had enough time to wade in the shallow end. Maybe this is motivation for a repeat tomorrow, minus the Frisbee to Daddy's face.

We went to the Rose Festival in Portland. Sebastian & Boone rode the bumper cars. Sebastian was exactly tall enough to ride. Sebastian would yell, "Owww!!" whenever another car bumped into them & give the passengers of that car a dirty look! Ha! Boone let Sebastian drive both times. Sebastian was barely tall enough to reach the pedal! They hardly moved the first time they went - but the second time around was much better. Sebastian was lunging himself over the safety bar as far as he could to grip the steering wheel. It didn't look comfortable, ha. There were many other kids there who were positioned exactly like him, working with all their might so they could say they had driven a bumper car.

We also went to Powell's books while we were in Portland. That was the first time Sebastian & I had been there. Four stories of books! They had maps for customers to navigate the store! The parking garage was the best part though, driving up hills that were nearly 90 degree angles and then going down them on the way out. Sebastian said, "What is Gramma doing??!" as we went head first down the first hill, haha. The man working at the parking garage took Gramma's car key after we had gone in & parked. Sebastian asked me why he had taken it. I told him that they like to take your car for a test drive after you leave. When we came back to find Gramma's car Sebastian noticed that it wasn't parked correctly between the lines. He said, "That guy sure doesn't know how to park very well." hahaaa

On the way to Portland, Sebastian & I were discussing his birthday party.. he asks me very loudly, "Have you sent everybody erections to the party??" Ha. I replied, "No, no I have not",  as everyone smiled & held in their laughter.

Scott, Judah, Willow & Pa Rock went to the Riverfront park while we were in Portland. Scott said Judah kept taking off. He said that he thought Judah would stop, but he never did, he just kept on running! So Scott was running too! At one point Judah took off & Willow took off after him. She was yelling, "Judah!! Judah!!" Judah turned around & raced towards her. They sprinted towards one other & embraced with a big hug! Man, I wish I could have seen that! Scott said they all 4 walked hand-in-hand through the park. They rode the carousel as well and happened to be there on the carousel's birthday - which meant discounted rides & horses wearing birthday hats!

It was supposed to hit 80 today, but it didn't feel like 80 in Portland. The weather was very cooperative, nearly perfect.

Judah said, "Mommy!!" when we arrived back home. Minutes later he told me, "How are you!" Then he walked me around, telling me about things.. I couldn't understand what he was saying. He pulled me around the house. Judah & Willow sat beside/on me on the couch & both shared things about their day as I asked them about what they had done. When Willow doesn't know an answer she looks around and says something about the first thing she sees, ha! Judah was smiling & talking a lot - I still couldn't understand much. I read the new books Gramma bought them today to them on the couch. Judah sat through most of his (Thomas the Train book), coming back to it every time after he jumped away. Willow wanted to read her new puppy book twice - she read it herself on the second go around, narrating the book in her own words.

Judah said a clear sentence this morning that was new - of course I can't remember it. I didn't get to see him much today, but I could tell from the short time I spent with him that strong progress was there.

Judah had no poops. Scott thinks everyone is constipated.
